Calling the things that are NOT…

Yesterday I heard of a story where a certain guy had been working hard for a promotion in his job but couldn’t get it. He tried so much to impress his bosses but to no avail. He also prayed about it. So this guy took it to another level; he began tithing based on the position he had been working so hard for…

Well, if you don’t know the rest of the story; in summary this is now one of the richest people in the world now. Gents and ladies, there is faith that moves God!!

Faith as defined in Hebrews 11; is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. In other words, it is calling the things that are not as though they are. Of course this doesn’t make sense to non-believers, and I’m afraid to some believers. The irony is this. You believe Jesus is the son of God, right? Then why do you stop there? If you really believe He is the son of God who died to atone for your sins, then why not believe everything else that pertains to that? The word tells us that we have received of His fullness, grace for grace. I cannot even begin defining HIS fullness!! If we exercised even a little of His fullness, I need not mention how much exploits we will witness. Christianity in itself is by faith. Nobody has seen Christ but by faith we believe He was, is and will forever be with us. That is why we are proud to be associated with Christ.

See, most of us like to eat a little piece of the pie! And you know what the problem is? A certain friend of mine told me ‘it’s too good to be true’. Their minds have been corrupted to think good things come to those who must work hard. My Bible tells me good things come to those who believe. That is not to imply we must not work hard! No. It is to mean that even against the prevailing conditions, the grace of God, by faith is abundant for us…who believe.

Faith is the most important element in a Christian’s life. It is what distinguishes us as believers. There are those with little faith and those with weak faith. Little faith is as a result of lack of knowledge of the word. Weak faith is a result of failure of exercising the word of God regarding you. I believe most of us are in the latter category. We know the truth but fail to act on it. Do you know what they call someone who knows the truth but does not act on it? They call him/her a fool. In fact in Law, it is an offense warranting punishment. I even believe God will be disappointed witchu for knowing who you are in relation to Him but still living in anguish, sorrow, poverty, failure etc. You will stand more accountable than that person who never knew at all.

Everyone has been dealt a certain measure of faith. The kind of lifestyle you want to live depends on the level at which you are willing to exercise your faith. Let us desire to furnish ourselves with the word of God by reading and meditating upon it. I trust that the more of the word we read, the more we get acquainted with our rights in Christ. Then we shall get the confidence to grow our little faith and strengthen our weak faith.

I believe in Mark 11:22-24!!

Begin calling the things that are not as though they are; cause in reality THEY ARE!!

My Pastor – Judah Kalinga is really interesting. He made a remarkable statement last Sunday in church that was both fascinating yet very true. In his words I paraphrase ‘it is a miracle for a believer to be poor or to fail’! For a minute I thought he had confused his notes or may be it was a slip of the tongue. Members of Global Light Church; who are usually sharp and in fact can tell what the Pastor is about to say, were taken by surprise…if I were Pastor Judah I would have used that chance to say gotcha!! Sometimes when you are in sync with the congregation it gets a bit too predictable and thus boring. This is not to discourage active participation in church, NO. In any case it livens the congregation and lets the Holy Spirit manifest in the believers. I just love the versatility of pastor and the fact that always he is able to drive the message home interestingly. This one occasion and statement was however distinctive. An unbeliever will not comprehend it; in fact some believers – what Paul calls ‘spiritual babes’ may not believe it. Here’s why.

The moment you receive salvation, you become a new creation. Now, this is not physically (although it will happen with time also). You receive a new spirit and that is why people term it ‘being born again’. We are New Creations in Christ Jesus. II Corinthians 5:17: “Wherefore if any man is in Christ, he is a New Creation.” If you have read any of E.W Kenyon’s works you know what I mean. It is therefore God’s dream for you to enjoy the fullness of this New Creation’s privileges. “The old things are passed away.” Those old things of bondage, fear, doubt, want, sickness, weakness, and failure are gone…and never to be associated to you again. In fact if they do it becomes a MIRACLE in God’s eyes. This is what my pastor was putting across. The New Creation is just like the Master – well, and you know who God is…I don’t even need to begin telling you God’s ability. Well guess what? That ability is vested in you too. He is the Vine, you are the branch. As He is, so are you. If you are Born Again you are “in Christ.” Yes, Christ is a place; it is where you find rest, peace, love and all you ever wanted – it is HOME.

I implore all of us to exercise this faith because the grace is so abundant that you can only keep growing and increasing in every aspect of your life. I have tried it and not since long ago, but what I can tell you is there has been radical change in my life. It reminds me of the blind man whom Jesus healed; when they asked him whether Jesus is really who he claims to be…I loved his answer that ‘whether or not he is born of God, I may not thing is for sure though..i was blind, BUT NOW I CAN SEE’. Nobody has to pressure you to understand the Bible and it’s doctrines before you can get saved, just believe and you will see tremendous improvement. Failure, poverty, sickness, sadness…etc will indeed be a MIRACLE to you!
